Empowering future leaders to advance health equity through research and insight

Who we are

We are the research extension of Voices of Equity — a nationwide, student-led movement with over 50 chapters, thousands of engaged students, and a growing track record of fundraising and grant success.

Our mission is to empower youth by connecting them with healthcare experts, fostering collaborative projects that tackle real-world health disparities, and turning research findings into actionable, community-based solutions.

We provide students with the tools and mentorship to lead data-driven projects, amplify their voices, and take their work beyond the classroom and into the communities that need it most.

Through hands-on experience, expert guidance, and a vibrant peer network, we’re building the next generation of equity-conscious physicians, scientists, policy advocates, and changemakers.

Whether you're curious, committed, or just getting started — there's a place for you here.

Together, this work defines VOX Equity.

Timeline

A Semester-Long Venture defining the path from conception to impact.

1

1. Project Conception

Week 1

Students are selected through a competitive application process and placed into teams based on shared interests. Together, they choose from existing project topics or propose new ones addressing urgent health equity challenges.

2

2. Training

Week 2 and Beyond

Starting in Week 2, students receive foundational training from expert researchers in literature review, research design, and academic writing — building essential skills that guide their work throughout the program.

3

3. Data Collection & Analysis

Weeks 3–7

Teams conduct original research on real-world health disparities. With continuous mentorship, they collect and analyze data, refine their research questions, and gain hands-on experience in applied research.

4

4. Grind

Weeks 8–10

Students work closely with mentors and experts to revise and polish their manuscripts — strengthening their work for publication and sharpening their research communication skills.

5

5. Finish Line

Weeks 11–14

Every student is guaranteed the opportunity to publish in the VOX Equity Journal. Teams may also submit to external journals or conferences, with support navigating the peer-review process.

6

6. Educate, Empower & Inspire

Weeks 15 and Beyond

Students turn research into action — launching campus initiatives, raising awareness, and mentoring peers. Many continue through follow-up projects or future research, creating lasting impact.

VOX Equity Journal

The VOX Equity Journal is a peer-reviewed, student-led publication at the intersection of research and real-world impact.

By highlighting innovative, data-driven work from emerging scholars, this journal not only advances the academic understanding of health disparities but also informs the community-based initiatives of VOX Equity chapters across the country. Each contribution reflects a commitment to bridging research with advocacy — empowering students to drive evidence-based solutions, support local engagement, and shape the future of health equity through education, activism, and policy insight.
